For people on my friends list: If you object to anything that is posted simply comment on the post and I will remove you from the list of people that receive these kinds of posts. I will not be including all friends in all types of posts. I relise that there are some details you just may not want to hear and I will respect that.
For people not on my friends list: There will still be a lot of public posts made, but if you want to be included in some of the other posts that I make, just drop me a comment here and I may add you to some of the sections of my journal.
All of this is part of a tidy up process after dumping 3 other blogs which I kept in favour of keeping everything together in one spot. So, have a nice day, and remember, "the world really is wonderful" just so long as your name isn't Simon Townsend!!!

Angie Zapata
Inset: Allen Andrade
It is at times like this that I wish I was religious so that I could be assured that people like Allen Andrade would spend not just a life time in jail, but also the rest of eternity in Hell. The "gay panic" defence seems to have at long last gone to hell where it belongs.
Once again, like I did last year, I will light a candle especially for Angie on November 20th, Transgender Day of Remembrance...
DENVER, Colorado (CNN) -- A Colorado man was convicted of first-degree murder and a bias-motivated crime and sentenced to life in prison for killing a transgender teen he met on an online social networking site.
It was the first time in the nation that a state hate crime statute resulted in a conviction in a transgender person's murder, the advocacy group Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation said.

Your result for The Steampunk Style Test...
The Ragamuffin
43% Elegant, 38% Technological, 47% Historical, 40% Adventurous and 49% Playful!

You are the Ragamuffin, the embodiment of steampunk playfulness. Chances are, you approach the genre from a much more casual and lighthearted standpoint than most other fans. To you, there is always an element of play inherent in the genre, and you may very well enjoy fashion as much for the opportunity to dress up as for the style itself. You probably wear goggles as an accessory, and rarely as actual eye-protection. Your outfits are likely to incorporate a lot of brown or cream, and combine large boots, Victorian corsets or vests, aviator caps or bowler hats, and gypsy skirts or slacks, simply because you like them all.
Try our other Steampunk test here.

| Your Word is "Love" |
![]() Relationships are the center of your world, and you always take time to bond with those you love. You are caring and giving. You enjoy helping those you love. And when it comes to romantic love, you feel passionately ... even in a very long term relationship. |

Motorbike parking at shopping centres

I would like to see a lot more of this begining to happen in carparks around Perth. It makes sense for both bike riders and car drivers and makes good use of space. Pic taken at Karawara Shopping Center.

Come get my stuff

I have a few things left that need a new home. (unfortunately because my server has been taken offline I don't have any photos atm.... will look at putting a few on Flickr later on.
For all items you must organise all transport and collect it BEFORE Saturday 13/12/08.
Exercise bike
Electronic variable resistance exercise bike with 6 preset programs and full digital display (timer, heart rate, speed/rpms etc). I have owned it for about 5 years, but clearly I haven't been that keen to use it. I prefer riding my racer around the river. It was originally $499 but I would like $50 or best offer.
Bookshelf
Ikea bookshelf. Painted hammer tone silver (it matched my 19" rack and desk in my study). Free to good home...
Desk
Fantastic desk, has served me well over the years. It has seen a lot of use through its lifetime but still looks pretty good. I bought it from an auction of a Credit Union that went bust in the late 80's so is the real deal as far as desks go. Jarrah laminated chipboard construction and I painted the laminate top hammer tone silver (I also had brushed aluminum blinds in the study so I had a bit of a theme running..
4 Drawer Metal Filing Cabinet
Lockable, in reasonable condition (some dents at the base and chipped paint) No this isn't painted hammer tone silver (at $35 a litre I ran out and couldn't afford anymore... I was a student after all LOL) brown and tan slightly (actually very!) ugly but could be spruced up easily with a lick of paint (hammer tone silver maybe?) Would like $20.
34cm TV x 2
Multi-standard 34cm portable colour televisions (two of). No remote controls and probably covered in an inch of dust but were fantastic monitors when I was working for a Satellite TV company and monitored programs from home. Both of them has lost the little flip down doors. Free to a good home.
Professional 19" computer/server rack
This isn't one of the little baby things you buy at Jaycar's that falls apart in a week. This is a proper professional 19' rack (was installed at the Telstra Pier St exchange originally but found its way into my possession thanks to short sighted managers and an auction of "no longer needed stuff"). It is huge! I think it is 10' tall. I still have the enclosed sides but no longer have the perspex doors that it originally came with. Has several shelves. I no longer have any rack mounted equipment so it is a bit of a waste of time for me to keep. One day I might get back into Dx'ing of satellite signals, or buy a proper rack mount server, but for now it has to go. Hopefully someone will give it a good home. Oh yea.... the face of it is painted hammer tone silver!!
50's/60's style laminated table
Kitch value plus.... in great condition other than surface rust on the legs. Clean up the legs. Take it away, give it a home...
Various computer monitors
They are going to the tip on Saturday afternoon.... so if you want one, come get it. All CRT's, all old, none have been plugged in since being here except for the 17" I used on the server and that is a little colour washed.....
Various bits and pieces
Lots of stuffs. Electronics, books, cables, etc etc... The stuff a techno-geek collects over the years. A lot of stuff is going to find its way into the trailer and down to the tip no matter how much I think it could be useful... If you want something ask me if I have it and I will let you know

A vote against racism, a vote for homophobia...
Nov. 5th, 2008 | 02:19 pm
Obama's victory has shown that mobilizing and uniting minorities does not have to alienate you from the mainstream.
However watching the outcome of the ballot measures has not been such a good experience.
Proposition 102 in Arizona, to ban same sex marriage in Arizona, currently stands at 56% for, and 44% against with over 80% of the vote having been counted.
Amendment 2 in Florida, to ban same sex marriage in Florida, currently stands at 62% for and 38% against with 92% of the vote counted.
Initiative 1 in Arkansas, to ban adoption by same sex couples in Arkansas, is currently 57% for and 43% against with 62% of the vote counted.
So here are three citizen initiated measures that are blatantly discriminatory that look like being passed by the people of the relevant states. It shows the true character of the political system where such measures could even make it to a ballot, and sadly the true nature of the people who have voted for such discrimination. But something even worse is taking place in the state of California.
Earlier this year a court in California came to the decision that under the constitution of that state that denying same sex couples the right to marry was unconstitutional. Ergo the constitution of California supported the rights of ALL Californian's to be married irrespective of their sexuality. Proposition 8 is a measure to alter the constitution of the state to remove the right of same sex couples from marrying and enjoying all the benefits that marriage brings with it. In short the people of California have been asked not only to vote on legislative change that is discriminatory, but on change that actively REMOVES the RIGHTS of a group based solely on their sexuality. For a country that waves their bill of rights as the thing that makes them superior to all others, it is disheartening to find it, and its citizens, raping the rights of a specific group of people.
Currently Prop 8 stands at: 54% for, 46% against with 22% of the vote counted. If this measure is carried, and the rights of GLBT people in California are destroyed, I wonder how long it will take before other rights like the freedom to speech, freedom of assembly and freedom of religion are similarly removed from the people of the US.
Voters in these four states obviously have no respect for other people's rights or freedoms, so why should anyone have any respect for theirs?

You Are 80% Goth |
![]() You are clearly goth. Even if you don't consider yourself goth, other people do. Let's face it. You're a little moodier, darker, and weirder than most people. But that's okay. You enjoy being different, and you're proud of who you are. Many psychologists think that goths are more self aware and smarter than the average person! |
